COMMENTARY & OPINION
SPECIAL REPORT
ANTI-STATE•ANTI-WAR•PRO-MARKET
December
6, 2014
Two
summers ago Judge Andrew Napolitano joined the faculty of Mises University ,
the Mises Institute’s summer program for students. He was interested in
teaching a nine-session special seminar to a select group of attendees.
Students didn’t know what the format would be, but they were all thrilled at
the opportunity. As it turns out, they were treated to a high-level seminar
with a professor who spoke with authority, pulled out obscure legal references
without notes, and traversed the room interacting with students. It was an
experience they would not soon forget.
And
this is the Judge Napolitano who comes through in Suicide
Pact: The Radical Expansion of Presidential Powers and the Assault on Civil
Liberties: the law professor in command of his material, presenting his
case, anticipating objections, and leaving his audience spellbound.
Had the
Judge given us nothing but a blow-by-blow overview of the enormities of George
W. Bush and Barack Obama, we would have been in his debt. But Suicide
Pact does much more than just this. For one thing, the Judge looks
beyond the presidents to the whole federal apparatus, which – “checks and
balances” civics lessons to the contrary notwithstanding – is so often
complicit in presidential misdeeds. For another, he cuts through the delusions
of left and right alike. While he places special emphasis on the outrages of
the past two presidential administrations, he will admit of no golden-age
mythology. Presidential crimes and overreach are not strange aberrations,
explains the Judge. They extend back into American history for more than two
hundred years.
Not ten
years after the ratification of the Constitution, for example, the Alien and
Sedition Acts curtailed civil liberties to a degree that shocks us even today.
Critics of the president and Congress could find themselves fined or
imprisoned. Ordinary Americans were punished for offhand remarks, as were
newspaper writers and even a US
congressman from Vermont .
But
some of the greatest offenders turn out to be – who else? – the very presidents
schoolchildren are traditionally taught to revere. Violations of American
liberty carried out by the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, and
Franklin Roosevelt have in turn been gleefully embraced in the 21st century as
precedents for the various presidential enormities Americans have become
conditioned to accept as normal.
The
Judge discusses, among other things, Lincoln ’s
suspension of habeas corpus and use of military commissions when civilian
courts were still functioning. He covers the key cases: Ex parte Merryman,
Ex parte Vallandigham (which involved the deportation of a US congressman from Ohio who opposed the war), and Ex parte
Milligan. In other words, the book is a course in major episodes in
American legal history, with the Judge as your professor.
Woodrow
Wilson, another president admired by the historians, has his own list of
outrages. We know about the Federal Reserve and World War I, of course, but
presidential and federal power increased in other important ways as well.
Wilson was given sweeping control over the economy via the Overman Act, for
example. That was one of the reasons “progressives” supported the war: they
knew it would mean more government power over individuals and their property.
Wilson likewise presided over restrictions on free speech that seem incredible
to modern ears: people imprisoned for giving speeches or writing
small-circulation pamphlets, German-Americans intimidated and harassed, and an
official channel of propaganda dissemination, the Committee on Public
Information, making sure Americans understood the official line on world
events.
In his
discussion of Wilson ,
by the way, the Judge characteristically refuses to confine himself only to
complaints that will resonate with a right-wing audience. He also covers the
Red Scare, the Palmer Raids, and the deportations under the Alien Act of 1918.
(That Act provided that any alien anarchist, whether or not he favored peaceful
methods, could be deported; the process took place without counsel, jury, or
judge.)
The
Judge’s story continues through World War II, a period in which we seldom hear
about the fate of American liberty. We read in Suicide
Pact about domestic spying and the seldom mentioned curtailments on
economic liberty during the war. The internment of the Japanese is of course
the most arresting example of a presidential enormity, and one that FDR’s
admirers in the historical profession have so often downplayed as a curious and
unfortunate footnote to an otherwise wonderful presidential tenure. As the
Judge puts it, FDR ordered “a massive rights deprivation to placate a
hysterical public whose hysteria his agents flamed, and upon which he
capitalized so as to enhance presidential power.”
During
the Korean War Harry Truman seized the steel mills, citing his commander-in-chief
powers. In the Youngstown
case, the Supreme Court ruled against Truman, but on procedural grounds:
Congress rather than the president should have seized the private property. And
even this was a rare display of boldness for the Court: Judge Napolitano notes
that Youngstown was “the only
presidential executive order ever overturned in its entirety by the United States
Supreme Court,” and that “lower courts have struck down only two other
presidential directives.”
Younger
readers may not recall the matter of COINTELPRO, a program begun in secret by
FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover in 1956 to keep tabs on dissident organizations.
Neither the president nor the attorney general knew anything about the program.
COINTELPRO had a systematic strategy:
1) Gathering information;
|
2) Crafting a negative public image of
the targeted group;
|
3) Interfering with the group’s
internal structure;
|
4) Instigating internal fighting and
disagreement;
|
5) Limiting the group’s access to
public resources;
|
6) Constraining protest and assembly
abilities;
|
7) Interfering with specific
individuals and their ability to participate in the group.
|
It
probably goes without saying that the details of the program were not revealed
to the public by a congressional investigation or a New York Times
report. A group called Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI, which was
itself being investigated by COINTELPRO, broke into the FBI’s field office and
got hold of confidential documents describing the program in detail. It was officially
discontinued, though of course no government officials were criminally
prosecuted. Along with the revelations about government surveillance under
George W. Bush and Barack Obama, it serves as a salutary reminder that whatever
we know about government activity likely pales beside what we don’t know.
All
this historical material is by way of background, context, and introduction to
the more recent expansions of presidential power in the wake of the war on
terror, and here I simply urge you to read the Judge for yourself. The right
wing, full of righteous rage at the imperial Obama, managed to look the other
way while George W. Bush expanded federal power, and his own in particular,
throughout two presidential terms.
Not so
Judge Napolitano. The PATRIOT Act, warrantless wiretapping, renditions,
torture, drones, military commissions, Guantanamo
– the whole apparatus of the war on terror is laid out in detail here, complete
with background, analysis, and criticism. Here is the systematic case against
the prosecution of the war on terror on the domestic front. And it again
invites the question: if we know all these things are happening, what else is
happening that we don’t know?
Everyone
knows the Judge is an outstanding television personality, a captivating public
speaker, and a persuasive writer, but Suicide
Pact establishes him once and for all as an important scholar of
American history and law. The book, which carries the story up to 2013, doesn’t
have a happy ending, of course. But that story isn’t yet finished, and when
liberty makes its return, we will have the likes of Judge Napolitano to thank.
When others in his position were toadies of the regime, he was telling
unfashionable truths to an American public that often prefers the comfortable
lie.
IS THE STAGE BEING SET?

MH-17
WILL THE INVESTIGATION SHOW
THIS --- OR WILL IT SHOW ANYTHING?
MH17 'was shot down in botched bid to assassinate
PUTIN': Pro-Kremlin media names Ukrainian air force pilot who they allege
downed craft.
Pro-Kremlin news
claim MH17 was a botched assassination of Putin
Allege Ukrainian
billionaire ordered it believing Putin would fly route
Russian paper also
name Ukrainian Lt Col Dmitro Yakatsuts as guilty
Claim Yakatsuts and
female air traffic controller 'disappeared to Dubai '
December
2014
A
Russian newspaper has made a series of outlandish claims regarding the MH17
disaster, including that the plane was shot down in a botched bid by the
Ukrainian air force to assassinate Vladimir Putin on the orders of a
billionaire oligarch.
Pro-Kremlin
outlets have long blamed MH17 on Ukraine , and have now taken it one
step further and named a Ukranian army pilot they say is guilty of shooting
down the plane.
A
Russian newspaper and TV station claim oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyi believed
Putin would fly the route in his private jet, and ordered that the Russian
President be assassinated by the Ukranian army.
Complicated
claims: The Russian media is claiming that Anna Petrenko, an air traffic
controller in charge of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight at the time of the
crash, has 'fled' to Dubai with the Ukranian army pilot who 'shot down MH17 on
order of Ukranian billionaire oligarch'
The
ludicrous claims are 'proven' by the fact that the pilot disappeared to Dubai with a glamorous air
traffic controller after the MH17 disaster, the Russian news outlets
claim.
The
'Moment of Truth' programme and Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper say both went on
an 'extended holiday' immediately after the Boeing 777 was downed on 17 July,
killing all 298 people on board.
This
'investigation' also makes the surprising claim that a Ukrainian billionaire -
known as an enemy of Putin - masterminded the attack by the air force.
It
claims that oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyi received intelligence that the Kremlin
president's aircraft, known as Plane Number One, was due to overfly the region
and land at Rostov-on-Don, and ordered what was to become the shooting down of
the MH17.
This
Russian city is close to the crash site. But, it is claimed, Putin's route was
changed at the last minute and he landed instead in Moscow .
The
Pro-Kremlin paper and TV station say oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyi believed Putin
would fly the same route as MH17 in his private jet, and ordered that the
Russian President be assassinated by the Ukranian army
The
reports also alleged that the cockpit of the aircraft was hit by a 30mm cannon
shot from a Su-25 plane, which they say was piloted by Lt Col Dmitro
Yakatsuts of elite 299 squadron in the Ukrainian air force
The
reports allege that Lt Col Dmitro Yakatsuts of elite 299 squadron in the
Ukrainian air force piloted an Su-25 aircraft tailing MH17 but that he has
since disappeared to Dubai.
They
claim that air traffic controller Anna Petrenko, based in Dnepropetrovsk , was in charge of the
Malaysian Airlines flight at the time of the crash, and that she has vanished
to the same location.
'No-one
is searching for them. It is the first case in the world that an air traffic
controller that was in charge of the crashed plane is urgently sent on holiday.
She wasn't even interrogated,' claimed Karaulov.
The
reports also alleged that the cockpit of the aircraft was hit by a 30mm cannon
shot from the Su-25 plane.
HOUSE RESOLUTION 758
HAS OUR CHIEF BEEN GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT
FOR WAR WITH RUSSIA
BY THE GOP WARHAWKS?

WWIII
Is Guaranteed! "One Step Closer" To "All Out War"
Says Russia
By
Susan Duclos
Russian President Vladimir Putin is
issuing a warning, one Americans need to pay attention to before US politicians
take us past the point of no return, if they haven't done so already.
While the media in Russia is
"state-run," meaning that one never knows how much is true or how
much is propaganda, the flip side of that particular coin is that nothing goes
out over it without the express permission, or instigation of Russian
leadership, so it is clear that when their articles are written or news spoken,
it is exactly what Putin wants the world to know.
With that said, the very first paragraph
of Russia Today's editorial titled "America tuned out as
Congress bangs war drum against Russia," which states that US House
resolution 758 has "brought the nation one step closer to all-out-war with
Russia," is a dire warning directly from Russia to the populace of the
United States.
Future historians - that is,
assuming there are humans still around to contemplate history - may one day
point to House Resolution 758 as the single piece of legislation that sparked a global conflagration between two
leading nuclear powers.
The article also goes on to take a look
at House resolution 758, breaking it down, giving a birds-eye view of how
Russian leadership views these actions on the part of the US Congress and it
appears that things are about to get much uglier.

Most of the prisoners at Guantanamo have been found
innocent and found innocent
and cleared for release.
But as we wrote last year:
Top counter-terrorism experts say that
indefinite detention – such as we have at Guantanamo – increases terrorism. Colin Powell’s
chief of staff says that the Bush administration knew that
most of the inmates at Guantanamo were innocent, but kept them locked up
indefinitely to avoid the embarrassment of admitting that
they’d tortured innocent people.
In other words, Guantanamo is being kept open – and innocent detainees
imprisoned forever – in order to try to cover up the torture of innocents.
Prosecuting – instead of covering up for – the torturers would allow the
innocents to be released … thus taking away one of the main causes of
terrorism: indefinite detention.
Evidence for this theory is contained in
the following passage from the Senate’s torture report:
One interrogator told another detainee
that he would never go to court, because “we can never let the world know what I have done to you.”
Now that the torture cat’s out of the
bag, can we finally close Gitmo?
Ramey comments:
Will the U.S. congress follow up with a push for the
prosecution of those involved or will enough money change hands to get this
swept under the carpet as merely another "…tempest in a teapot"?
Can Americans continue to keep their heads in the sands of
denial and insist that we are a "special nation"? A special nation we are and we have been
singled out for special treatment. You
can find the indictment against us by the Creator in the second chapter of the
little book of Habakkuk. We are the end
time Babylon as
this "little book" makes plain.
Revelation 18 tells us our demise will come "…in one
hour". Jeremiah 50-51 tells us from
whence it will come if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.
CIA
EXPOSE
I HAVE DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THE
PURPOSE FOR THE EXPOSE ON THE CIA FROM A CONGRESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE
If
the purpose of this expensive document is to show America and the world that the CIA
is a sadistic, unprincipled, Satanic, empire operating within the framework of
the American government, then this report is some 50 years overdue.
If
it is to provide a trigger for WW III --- don't we already have plenty of
triggers in place around the world and in the oval office?
From
my very limited perspective, the purpose appears twofold:
#1. Economics.
Since it cost $40 millon to produce, it was an opportunity for 8 members
of congress to hand a $5 million contract to cronies to provide a segment of
this report.
#2. Since it appears evident that it will gain us
zilch internationally, it would seem then that the purpose is for a
"political gotcha" aimed at the CIA as a vendetta for keeping
congress in the dark.
Or
could it be to turn "international heat" on the CIA? Since the "Arkanciding" of the top
bankers has already begun, is the CIA next.
It stands to reason that if population is reduced by 90%, (goal of the Vatican ,
UN and New World Order), then there will be no need for the world girdling army
of CIA operatives to destabilize nations.
Beware
lawyers, your time is coming. The world
has some 1 million lawyers and roughly 82% of those are in the U.S. So if they are to be reduced, in proportion
to the proposed population reduction, that means 900,000 will have to be
purged. That still leaves 100,000. Will the New World Order have a need for that
many "court jesters"? Or will these also be considered "useless
eaters"?
It
would seem the migration to hidey-holes has already begun so should we also
expect the double crosses to begin? Can
any be so naïve as to believe they haven't overbooked? Who will decide when to close the door?
It
would seem that our chief supports the release of this "CIA Torture Report"
despite the fact that he has used the CIA extensively in a number of his
nefarious projects. Gun running to
Mexican drug lords and arming and training ISIS
come to mind.
It
would seem that we have also had many astronomers, microbiologists and
astrophysicists "Arkancided".
To those watching what is going on in the U.S. (and world), the reasons
should be obvious. Microbiologists could
really throw a wrench in the game when the super bugs are released and the
population reduction begins in earnest.
The others could blow political cover by leaking info on the movement of
heavenly bodies. What if there really is
a Nibiru?
Is
the high level civil war in our government about to boil over? (See Jeremiah
51:46). Will Putin use it for a
springboard? And are we really being
destroyed "…for lack of knowledge", as it says in Hosea 4:6?
MEDICAL/PHARMACEUTICAL FRAUD
Here's a must-read article for anyone
interested in learning how the pharmaceutical industry really operates. It's a
case of aggressive marketing gone bad, with a mixture of corrupt physicians,
underhanded payola and a near-total disregard for patient health. And yet it's
business as usual in the pharmaceutical industry: drug maker Schering-Plough,
one of the largest drug companies in the world, has been outright bribing
physicians to prescribe drugs and operate sham clinical trials.
Here's how it would work: doctors who
prescribed the drug company's products and avoided competing drugs were paid
"consulting fees" of tens of thousands of dollars. And what kind of
consulting did these doctors do? The kind of consulting that requires nothing
more than signing a blank sheet of paper and cashing the check, of course. And
thousands of doctors participated in this criminal scam, collecting untold sums
of money in exchange for hyping Schering-Plough's pharmaceuticals to patients.
(Medical ethics, anyone?)
Doctors were paid even more money to
conduct fraudulent clinical trials that would require patients to take the
drugs for twelve months at a time, which of course rang up even more drug
profits for the manufacturer and resulted in more kickbacks to the doctors.
That's right: they're literally playing doctor with your life while pocketing
the drug money.
If all this sounds outrageous, think
again: this is precisely the kind of criminal activity that now typifies the
pharmaceutical industry and organized medicine
in general. These companies will do anything to make a buck, including outright
bribing doctors with lavish meals, free gifts and even trips to Hawaii and
other exotic destinations, all under the guise of "continuing medical
education" (CME) courses. It's all a scam, and the vast majority of physicians just go right
along with it, pocketing the benefits and dosing up their patients with
whatever drug they've been told to prescribe.
I've seen it myself: a room-full of
doctors in Hawaii ,
ditching a drug company
sponsored "education" event, where airfare and hotels were provided
for free. Why were the doctors ditching the class? Because they wanted to have
fun in Hawaii ,
and attendance wasn't required after the first hour. It's basically just a paid
vacation scam, courtesy of the pharmaceutical company. And it's happening every
day, right now.
Prescription drugs are so profitable --
some drugs are now sold at more than 500,000% markup over the actual cost of
their raw ingredients -- that drug companies will do practically anything to
sell more pills. They invent fictitious diseases and urge doctors and parents to dose
their children with powerful narcotics. They conduct fraudulent clinical
trials, making sure to bury any negative results that would show how dangerous
their drugs really are. They buy the favor of the media by pumping hundreds of
millions of dollars into magazine, television, newspaper and online
advertising. They pressure the FDA into delaying the ban on extremely dangerous
drugs in order to squeeze out another twelve months of profits even while
patients are dying from drug-induced liver failure.
And the scam works: drug profits are up.
Way up. Meanwhile, the American people are sicker than ever. Drugs aren't
helping the population at large, all they're doing is turning the United States
into a nation of chemical zombies who suffer from the extremely toxic side
effects of taking dozens of prescriptions in combination.
It's the greatest con in American
history. It's the racket of the millennium. The drug companies are running the
show, cutting off drugs from Canada ,
monopolizing the U.S.
market, running the FDA, bribing doctors and killing patients all the while.
Even based on statistics from conventional medicine, prescription drugs are
right now killing 100,000 Americans each year and injuring another two million.
And that doesn't count the tens of thousands of additional deaths caused by
NSAIDs and over-the-counter painkillers.
It's not an exaggeration to call this a
medical holocaust. These drug companies seem determined to dose the entire
population with as many simultaneous prescriptions as possible, as long as it
generates profits for their shareholders. Business ethics are nowhere to be
found in the pharmaceutical industry these days: it's all about money, profits,
power and control.
And the funny part about all this is
that these drugs are almost entirely unnecessary. There's not a single
chronic disease that's actually cured or reversed from any prescription drug in
existence. All these drugs do is treat symptoms and barely keep the
patients alive long enough to write another check to cover their growing
medical debt. Chemotherapy is a sham and has absolutely no scientific merit
whatsoever. (Yes, it shrinks tumors, but it adds nothing to a patient's
lifespan.) Statin drugs are a con, and yet they're being over-prescribed for
all sorts of chronic disorders that actually need to be treated with nutrition
and exercise, not drugs. And over-the-counter drugs are both extremely dangerous
and highly ineffective. NSAIDs kill some 40,000 patients each year from
intestinal bleeding -- and yet offer no real benefit to patients that couldn't
be achieved from simple changes in diet and exercise.
The FDA, meanwhile, watches all this and
focuses its own efforts on discrediting herbal supplements like ephedra. The
agency seems determined to outlaw or regulate all nutritional supplements,
thereby making vitamins illegal and practically guaranteeing another decade of
outrageous profits for drug companies. It's no surprise: most FDA employees
used to work for drug companies (or plan to in the near future). Many FDA
employees maintain strong financial ties to the pharmaceutical industry.
They're simply out to crush the natural health industry and thereby boost their
own personal profits from pharmaceuticals.
Modern medicine is in shambles, folks.
It's a train wreck. We're sicker, fatter and more depressed than ever. And the
really good advice that people need isn't reaching them. Good health is really
simple, it turns out. Get lots of natural sunlight on your skin daily. Eat
superfoods like chlorella and spirulina.
Avoid all refined carbohydrates and processed foods. Ban soft drinks from your
life. Never touch cigarettes. Pick up strength training, yoga, pilates,
cycling, jogging or some other physical exercise activity. And breathe, people.
Breathe consciously. Your body needs oxygen. Learn how to put yourself in
control of your own health: read Take Back Your Health Power!
In a way, the massive fraud now being
exposed in western
medicine is a blessing in disguise. Big Medicine has gone so far over the
top with aggressive marketing and downright evil (if not criminal) tactics that
the whole profiteering orgy is going to come crashing down on them. Big
Medicine will soon be history -- remembered as just a moment of insanity in the
history of modern civilization. Some day, people will say, "Do you
remember when the whole country was dosed up on chemicals?" They'll
shudder with the thought of it -- how we were all duped by the drug companies,
by our family doctors, and by the Bush Administration's complicity in the whole
scheme. They'll ask, "How could an entire country go mad like this?"
And the answer, of course, is that the
whole country was doped up on prescription drugs that alter brain chemistry,
cloud the mind, and turn ordinary consumers into pill-popping zombies.
It was a brilliant scam. It generated
billions of dollars in profits. And now the truth is starting to come out: Big
Medicine is about to become another sad chapter in the history of human
deception. Good riddance.

Medicine by Gary Null, Ph.D.

prescription drug bribery originally published by the New York Times, included
